“The Guide to Green Procurement” is the title of the 150 rules released in a document by the authorities of Hamburg to be immediately put into effect by their public services providers. From banning disposable packaging (as plastic bottles or coffee capsules), to the avoiding of chlorine-based cleaning products, this document aims to stop the wasted of public money on bad deeds for the planet.

Besides the list of product restrictions, the guide recommends a change of habits, proposing that public employees use bicycles or public transports instead of cars.

This is an important step for the environment, but the authorities in charge say they want to go further, on the next version of this document, tackling the entire manufacturing process of mass-products.
